Tournai stone and bluestone react badly to supermarket acid descalers. They eat into the surface: the buildup goes, but the stone turns grey and rough, and that doesn't come back. So we test on an inconspicuous spot first and choose product and dwell time from what we see there.

Why not just use a shop-bought descaler?

They're acidic. On Tournai limestone and bluestone they attack the surface: the buildup goes, but the stone turns grey and rough, and that's irreversible.

What if the test patch disappoints?

Then we stop. You pay nothing for a test that gives no result, and we'll tell you honestly whether it's achievable.

Do you work on protected buildings?

Yes, with extra care. On a listed monument we'd advise checking first whether conditions apply to facade treatment.

Will the buildup come back?

Eventually, yes, that's normal for stone outdoors. With the protective layer it takes longer and comes off more easily next time.

How long does a terrace take?

A typical city terrace is one day including dwell time. Larger areas we plan over two.

Do you clean full facades?

Thresholds, plinths and defined areas, yes. A full facade requiring scaffolding is outside what we offer.
